Because the Royal Palaces Archive contains original 19th-century manuscript blueprints, imported contractor ledgers, and fragile plaster molds, access to our primary collections is restricted to credentialed academic researchers, architectural historians, and restoration professionals.
Permit Classifications
We offer three tiers of research permits, depending on the scope of the study and the level of access required:
- Class A (Documentary Access): Grants access to our digitized shipyard databases and travel logs. Approved automatically for university researchers.
- Class B (Material Handling): Required to examine original physical records, hand-drawn maps, and physical wood specimens at our Luxor facility. Requires institutional credentials.
- Class C (On-Site Surveys): Issued to researchers participating in photogrammetry scanning and stucco restoration studies at our palace mapping locations. Requires safety clearance.
"These guidelines ensure that our database serves the global research community while protecting fragile historical documents and ecological environments from degradation."
Application Procedure
Applications for research access must be submitted at least four weeks prior to the planned start of study. Applicants must submit a detailed research plan, academic credentials, and reference letters from their department.
Upon approval, researchers will receive a digital access card granting entry to the requested database segments and our physical study libraries.
